Do I need a music licence for a silent disco?

It depends on where and how the music is being played. In the UK, playing recorded music in public or as part of a business can require appropriate licensing even when guests listen through headphones.

Private domestic use can be different from public, school, corporate or commercial events. Check the venue’s existing music licence and obtain specialist guidance where necessary. Silent headphones do not remove copyright obligations.
